The Department of Culture and Tourism of the Zaporizhzhia City Council in cooperation with the Zaporizhzhia City Development Institute (@irmzpcity), has joined an international photo contest organized by the city of Belfort as part of its partnership with Zaporizhzhia.
We invite professional and amateur photographers residing in Zaporizhzhia to submit projects on the theme "Metamorphoses."
💭 People, communities, cities, and landscapes are constantly changing. We invite you to explore these transformations through your own experience and artistic lens: capture changes in the urban environment, personal or collective experiences, and the reinterpretation of memory and reality, or experiment with the language of photography itself.
📌 To participate, you must submit a cohesive original series of 10–20 photographs. A joint jury comprising representatives from Belfort and Zaporizhzhia will evaluate the entries based on thematic relevance, artistic quality, and originality.
The Zaporizhzhia's part of the exhibition will take place at the Municipal Gallery of the Zaporizhzhia Center for Contemporary Art (@artcenter.zaporizhzhia).
The selected series will also be showcased at the 9th Month of Photography in Belfort, running from November 3 to November 29, 2026. The photographs will be printed in a 60 × 80 cm format and exhibited in a public space in the city center.
The project creator will receive an invitation to the opening and accommodation in Belfort for up to five days for themselves and one accompanying person. Travel expenses are not covered.
Applications must be submitted in English and include:
- a completed contact form;
- 10–20 photographs in JPG format (300 dpi);
- a contact sheet with the photographs and captions;
- a description of the artistic concept, approach, inspiration, and project objective.
The deadline is midnight on September 13, 2026.
