An exhibition titled "Gently, Carefully, Along the Shore" by the art collective Назва змінна/Variable name @your.variablename @lerakarpan @vampirantidepressant has opened.
📍 Zaporizhzhia BIRUCHIY Art Center (145 Sobornyi Avenue)
The project began with field research along the coast of Khortytsia Island and, during the residency, expanded inland across the Right Bank toward the Verkhnia Khortytsia River. The riverbeds of the Dnipro and the Verkhnia Khortytsia were artificially altered by two differing in scale and purpose projects carried out less than eighty years apart.
Today, a significant stretch of both rivers' banks within the city runs almost parallel, while the narrow channel of the small urban river mirrors—on a different scale—the trajectory of the Dnipro’s infrastructural transformation. These meaningful echoes guide the perceptions of attentive observers, revealing how various historical scales of water engineering continue to shape the relationship between water, the riverbank, and the city.
