We have opened “Films from the Frontline: Photographs, Letters, and Artifacts of Ukrainian Service Members,” an exhibition by Serhii Melnitchenko @sergey_melnitchenko
The project began with the artist sending disposable film cameras to Ukrainian service members stationed along different sections of the front line. Every photograph presented in the exhibition was taken by the defenders themselves.
But this exhibition is about more than photography.
Alongside the images, visitors can see handwritten letters and personal artifacts that the service members sent back together with the developed film. These are the objects they chose to represent a part of their own story.
The exhibition offers an opportunity to see the reality of the front not through headlines or statistics, but through the eyes of the people who live it every day.
The exhibition is open until August 2. Admission is free.
