😍 Our book "Ukrainian Wartime Posters" @ukrainianwartimeposters, dedicated to Ukrainian poster art of 2022–2023, became part of the Lviv Lyceum "Prosvita"'s library collection.
The book presents over 300 works by 18 contemporary Ukrainian artists, designers and illustrators. This is a kind of visual chronicle of the first years of the full-scale war, which through poster art documents events, records russian war crimes and tells about the Ukrainian resistance.
As history teacher Yaroslav says, the book has became a logical continuation of the topics that are already being discussed in the lessons:
💬 “During history lessons, we often talk about wars of different eras and continents, as well as how people had been receiving information before the advent of the Internet. One of the topics was the role of poster art and printed publications in shaping public opinion. The students were especially interested in learning about the most famous propaganda posters in the world, in particular the legendary American poster from the First World War “I Want You for U.S. Army”. Together we have examined it and other historical examples, analyzing their influence and meaning.
In the future, we plan to use the book in classes to introduce children to modern Ukrainian poster art and encourage their own creativity".
🇺🇦 In particular, students will have the opportunity to create their first posters in support of the Ukrainian military, to express gratitude to the defenders, and reflect on the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people through art.
Thanks to @the_van1affree for telling about the book and giving it to the lyceum! We are glad that our cooperation continues.
