Irony as a way to talk about what is important. Art as a way to comprehend reality.
On June 18, an exhibition by Igor Gusev @igor.gusev.artist — an artist, curator, and one of the most famous representatives of the Odessa conceptual school and contemporary Ukrainian art — opens in Zaporizhzhia.

After the start of the full-scale Russian war against Ukraine, Gusev's work took on a new dimension. The artist actively responded to the events of the war in his works, reflecting on the experience of loss, resistance and transformation of Ukrainian society. In 2025, he mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and joined the defense of the country. This step became a logical continuation of his civic position, where personal responsibility and artistic expression are inextricably linked.
💭 "Even in Odessa, they tell me that I'm ironic, although in Odessa, in my opinion, everyone is ironic. In essence, irony is a way to share your thoughts with the world without expressing the whole truth, which may seem bitter to someone, stinging to someone. And so, allegorically, it's more convenient: as if you sent the message and left room for interpretation."
