Vacationers on Khortytsia found an ancient vessel

🏺Sometimes, the past literally rises to the surface.

After the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam and the subsequent drop in the Dnipro’s water level, areas that had been hidden underwater for decades were revealed. Among them are parts of the Velykyi Luh, an area of great importance to the history of Zaporizhzhia and Ukraine.

Along with the land, objects that preserve the memory of those who lived here centuries ago are also returning. Recently, vacationers on Khortytsia accidentally found an ancient vessel in the water, almost 2,000 years old, and handed it over to museum specialists.

This is more than just an archaeological discovery. It is another fragment of our history and identity that we now have the chance to see and preserve.
