The major armed conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries have been a harsh conveyor belt of trials for Ukraine as a whole and the Zaporizhzhia region in particular. Yet it was in this crucible — through resistance, courage, ingenuity, and the preservation of values — that the modern Ukrainian nation was forged.
This project is an immersion into the personal stories, archives, and living memory of the Zaporizhzhia region. The exhibition debunks Soviet myths and tells the stories of people who shaped a free-spirited Zaporizhzhia.
The exhibition takes you through five stages of national transformation: from the historical “Conveyor” — through the zero point of “Destruction,” with diaries of repression and painful memories — to the phoenix-like “Rebirth,” shared “Consolidation,” and a section for ourselves — “Inside.”
It is like a tour of an industrial facility that, instead of steel, forges our values and convictions.
Through personal belongings, video testimonies, and audio interviews, you will see how, during times of the greatest trials, the people featured in these stories answered through their actions the question: “What makes me Ukrainian in times of the greatest trials?”
