The monument to the Russian composer Mykhailo Glinka was erected in 1955 opposite the entrance to his namesake concert hall.
Mykhailo Glinka visited Ukraine twice, in 1823 and 1838. He composed romances based on the poems of Ukrainian romantic poet Viktor Zabila, including "The wind is very noisy in the field" and "The nightingale doesn't chirp". In the 1840s, he had a relationship with Taras Shevchenko in St. Petersburg.
The monument consists of a bronze statue of the composer sitting in a chair with a musical score in his left hand on a two-step pedestal. The pedestal is covered with granite plates, and there is a plaque with the composer's name and dates of life on the central side.
The height of the monument is 3.8 meters. The sculptor was A. Strakhov (Braslavsky).
