Strategic library management. Zaporizhzhia joins an international project within the framework of the UN program
The project is implemented by the CO "NGO Ukrainian Library Association" in partnership with the Department of culture and tourism of the Zaporizhzhia City Council.
Librarians of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as Zaporizhzhia, will take part in a three-day training course during which they will learn the following:
- how to define the vision, values, and mission of a modern library;
- modern approaches and tools for Strategic library management;
- how to identify library clients;
- the role of the library in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals until 2030.
Oksana Boyarynova, manager of communications and public relations "Ukrainian Library Association, told:
"In addition to learning the basics of strategic management by the participants, we also plan to show librarians of Donetsk and Luhansk regions the best libraries in Zaporizhzhia, to tell them about the reform that is taking place in the city in the Library Sector. We believe that this experience is innovative and needs to be disseminated. This is a very good development and support of the Zaporizhzhia community. That is why we conduct this training in your city"
After the training, librarians, together with local public activists and government officials, will develop strategies for library activities tailored to the needs of the community.

The purpose of the event is to provide librarians participating in the project with knowledge on the basics of strategic library management, defining the vision, mission and values of a modern library. Show librarians the possible directions of libraries ' activities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The United Nations Program for the reconstruction and development of peace is implemented by four UN agencies: the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Gender Equality and empowerment (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
