This ruler was known for his courage, good luck and knightly soul, but also for the fact that, going to the enemy, he warned him about it in the words "I'm coming to you!”. It is said that in the fatal battle with the Bulgarians Sviatoslav was convinced by John I - the Byzantine emperor. And at the same time, he also brought the Pechenegs to the Prince's army. Thus he killed two birds with one shot: he overcame his enemy and restrained the Bulgarians.

In 2011, at the bottom of the Dnipro near Khortitsa Island, a unique sword of the X century was found. It happened near the place of the death of Prince Sviatoslav. The sword of the so-called "carolingian" type has a length of 94 cm and a weight of about 1 kg, it is an example of elite armament, as evidenced by a neck on the handle of copper alloy, silver and gilding. Similar artifacts are very rare. This sword was found by a fisherman, a resident of Zaporizhzhia Sergey Piankov during fishing at a depth of 22 m.

Today, the sword of Sviatoslav the Brave is in the Museum of History of the Zaporizhzhia Cossacks. They say that sometimes on the island of Khortitsa, along the Dnieper River, you can see a silhouette very similar to the silhouette of Prince Sviatoslav. It’s hard to believe, but maybe he is looking for his sword?
