Zaporizhzhia Regional Art Museum began its activities in 1971. The basis of the museum’s collection was the collection of national painting of the 19th - early 20th centuries, People's Artist of Ukraine Dmytro Hnatiuk. The museum received almost 60 works from its collection.
Currently, the unique collection includes more than 16,000 exhibits, and this is the work of fine art by prominent artists, and the collected works of Pryimachenko, but the main gem of the museum is a collection of works of Ukrainian folk decorative and applied art. First of all, this is a collection of Petrykiv painting masters. The museum funds are supplemented by consumer goods: towels, ceramics, folk clothes and wood products representing every corner of Ukraine. It is in the art museum that you can see all the amazing beauty of the outfits of the Ukrainian people in different regions of the country, the unsurpassed skill of Petrykiv painting, the subtleties of brush patterns and bright colors.
The contemporary art in the collections is represented by the works of various eminent artists such as Marchuk, Kryvolap, Roitburd, Malyshko, Guida, Lebedynets, etc.
The Zaporizhzhia Art Museum is always glad to see guests and residents of the Zaporizhzhia Territory in its halls.
