The synagogue was opened in 2012 and is the second synagogue built on the territory of Ukraine since independence. The construction lasted for 7 years.
The prototype of the building's architecture was the most famous Jerusalem Temple, which was the main and most famous center of Jewish religious life for 11 centuries: from the 10th century BCE to the 1st century CE.
The project was authored by Israeli architect Aaron Ostricher, who designed more than 180 synagogues around the world. The building is in a modern style and is faced with Jerusalem stone - marbled limestone (one of its varieties that is extracted in Crimea).
The "Heimat-Rose" synagogue is designed for 450 seats: 250 for men and 200 for women. It is named after the mothers of the construction sponsors.
