This is a 5-meter bronze monument, opened on October 15, 2005, near the cascades of fountains «Veselka» in Voznesenivsʹkiy Park. The sculpture is installed at one of the possible places of Prince Svyatoslav's death in 972. In his right hand, the prince holds a sword, the tip of which is lowered, emphasizing his determination.
Svyatoslav the Brave was the son of Prince Igor and Princess Olga, the father of Volodymyr the Saint, the grandfather of Yaroslav the Wise.He was a renowned military commander who, from 964 to 972, effectively established the borders of the Kyiv state through his military campaigns. He conquered the Vyatichi tribes, destroyed the Khazar state, and defeated the Jasi and Kasog tribes of the North Caucasian.
In the spring of 972, he perished in an unequal battle near the rapids of the Dnipro River.
