Address
1 Metalurhiv Avenue, Zaporizhzhia
The Monument to the Steelworker was erected in November 1963 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the creation of the metallurgical complex "Zaporizhstal".
The sculpture was designed by the sculptor Ivan Nosenko and symbolizes a worker of the metallurgical complex. Behind him, the industrial zone begins, representing the heart of the industrial city of Zaporizhzhia.
The monument is made of brick and concrete and depicts a steelworker standing next to a blast furnace, covering his eyes from the bright flame with his hand.
In 2006, during the reconstruction of the city center, there were plans to install the monument at the intersection of Metallurhiv Avenue and Recordna Street, but for various reasons, this did not happen.
