In the park at the intersection of the Metalurhiv Avenue and the Pivnichne Highway, Zaporizhzhia
About the place
By the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Zaporizhstal metallurgical complex, a monument to Steelmaker was erected.
November 16, 1933 is considered the day of the creation of the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant, because it was on that day that the first smelting of cast iron was done.
Sculptor Ivan Nosenko, who made it to order for the holiday in November 1963, was engaged in the development of the sculpture of the future monument.
The monument, made of brick and concrete, is a figure of a steelmaker, who stands by the blast furnace and with his hand covers his eyes from a bright flame. There is no plate on the pedestal with the name of the sculptor and the date of opening.
In 2006, the local authorities planned to install this symbol of an era at the intersection of Metalurhiv Avenue and Recordna Street (during the reconstruction of the city center), but for various reasons this did not happen.
And according to the plan, the monument symbolizes the employee of the metallurgical complex. Behind him - begins the industrial zone - the heart of the industrial city of Zaporizhzhia.
