In 1894, the zemstvo purchased land from Mr. Schmidtgal to build a hospital, but due to financial difficulties, construction did not begin until 1909. In 1910, the design for an infectious diseases ward and a two-story hospital began, but later they decided to construct a three-story building. The construction was carried out between 1914-1916, and the project was developed by engineer Ya. Delant. The building is designed in the style of late modernism.
During the revolution, soldiers and officers from the First Self-Propelled Sotnya of Hetman's army, the Red Army, Denikin's army, and Makhno's fighters stayed in the hospital. During World War II, in October 1943, the hospital was occupied by a German military hospital which was burned down during the defense of the city. One part of the hospital was rebuilt until 1951.
In 1976, the building was transferred to the regional children's hospital, which still operates in this building. In 2013, a major renovation of the building was carried out, but unfortunately, during the reconstruction, relief inserts with inscriptions from 1916, a fragment of an insert with a picture of a swan's head, and metal grates of the central staircase were lost.
