34, Motor-builders avenue, near the building of Shevchenko district state administration, Zaporizhzhia
About the place
Built by architect Oleynik to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861) - a brilliant Ukrainian poet and artist.
His work is an integral part of history Ukraine and in particular Zaporizhzhia. After all, 70 times in the works of the poet Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia Sich are mentioned, 5 times - the island of Khortytsia.
In the summer of 1843, already free, Taras Shevchenko visited Zaporizhzhia, the places of Zaporizhzhya Sich and the island of Khortytsia.
A bronze bust of Taras Shevchenko rises on a prismatic pedestal of gray polished granite. The pedestal is mounted on a two-stage stylobate.
The author portrayed the image of the artist as thoughtful, inspirational and full of deep emotions. The dimensions and volumes of the tetrahedral pedestal and stylobate are correlated with the sculpture in strict and harmonious proportions.
The small size of the area, the limited development on the one hand and the transport highway on the other led to a somewhat chamber character of the monument
